Donít Waste Your Vote

Donít Waste Your Vote

Voting for candidates in either the Democrat or Republican parties is not providing results.  The two party system in its current dysfunctional gridlock state is not addressing or answering the public’s needs.  Prime examples to support this include Congress not creating a budget since the 2007-08 fiscal year, no action taken on improving immigration for decades, and healthcare costs rising significantly year after year.  No wonder the approval rating for Congress is 15% at a high point and often running much lower in single digits.

How often do you hear voting for an Independent or a third party candidate is wasting your vote?  Is this the only argument used to dissuade anyone not voting for a Democrat or Republican?  What type of brainwashing has taken place for people to think this way?  The party first mentality, constant name calling and finger pointing, and negative messaging utilized by our elected officials has disenfranchised a large portion of the general public.  Add to that today’s two party system is taking their “My tribe good, your tribe wrong” identity politics to an extreme of polarizing our society.  These voter suppression and fear mongering tactics are how the two parties maintain their standing.

Gridlock has been caused by the two parties waiting for the next election hoping their party will gain a majority.  During the wait, low approval ratings are the norm due to inaction and the absence of solving pressing problems.  When the next election cycle is underway a barrage of negative messaging is thrust upon the public.  This is failure working to the level of success for the two parties.

To cast a vote for a Democrat or Republican is a wasted vote.  This is clear-cut in the upcoming senatorial election where casting a vote for Democrat Bob is nothing less than acceptance of corruption and casting a vote for Republican Bob is a rubber stamp for the current administration.  If we are to overcome the duopoly failure we must look to elect more Independent candidates and limit the influence of the Democrat and Republican debacle.  Government needs to work for the people again and not for the private organizations known as the Democrat and Republican parties.
